“Sasha!” my eyes shot open as Axton’s voice blared from behind the bedroom door “Sasha! Lina’s gonna kill me!”

What? Who the hell was killing who?

My sleep addled body tried its best to make quick work of jumping out of bed but it was pretty pathetic really. Axton banged on the bedroom door once more as I reached it. As an afterthought, I glanced towards the bed and found it empty.

Mason was gone.

A frown pinched my face as disappointment filled me. After the third loud bang from Axton the frown on my face turned to annoyance.

I pulled the door open and glowered at him.

“What the-”

“Ssh!” Axton shoved me back into the room, slamming the door behind us. His lean shoulders were shaking from laughter as he pressed himself to the door. Bracing his hands above his knees, he tried to catch his breath. My eyebrows raised as he finally straightened to his full height.

“Okay, explain.” I crossed my arms “Why are you barging into my room first thing in the morning?”

“First, isn’t this Grim’s room? Second, it’s barely morning.”

“What?” I gasped, looking around for something to tell the time with “Patch-”

“Mason fixed up breakfast.” Ax waved me off “But it’s really Lina you should be asking me about. Now that is some funny shit.”

I covered my face in my hands as I suddenly tuned in to the ruckus down stairs. There was a lot of yelling and what sounded like objects being thrown.

Heavy objects.

“What did you do, Ax?”

“Nothing much.” He shrugged, still grinning like a fool “Unless you count giving Trigger Lina’s number as something.”

I gaped at him “Why would you do that? You know how she feels about the MC life.”

He shrugged innocently before glancing at his hands “I was just playing the role of good wingman. You know I love Lina.”

“Then why sic Trigger on her?” I asked drolly. Of all MC members to set Lina up with, Trigger was not my first choice. He went through women like most people went through laundry.

“Shay, come on.” Axton snorted “Trigger is gonna hit on Lina like he does every other chick. Then Lina is gonna go into full Lina mode. Who do you think is really gonna win?”

I frowned at that before catching his meaning “You set Trigger up?”

“Hell yeah I did. I heard about the shit he said to you. Figured it was time for some vigilante justice.” He winked “Lina will kill him.”

As if on cue there was a loud smash down the stairs followed by a shrill slew of insults. I recognised the high-pitched squeal anywhere.

Lina.

Oh god. She was going to kill someone.

“Okay, Einstein, let’s get down there before we find ourselves creating alibis and burying a body this afternoon.” I groaned, throwing on the first oversized top I could find. I had no idea who was roaming around the house but didn’t like the idea of strangers seeing my pyjamas. No matter how cool I thought they looked.

Axton grumbled his objections quietly before opening the door for me.
